700 Down
Down is the finest insulator that M.E have
Its warmth to weight ratio, compressibility, long lifespan, and softness are yet to be matched by manmade insulations.
For all but the most serious expeditions, duck down is a great choice for both insulated clothing and equipment
DOWN CODEX® is their multi-award-winning certification scheme that considers the environmental, ethical and animal welfare matters relating to their down supply chains.
It is grounded in comprehensive and transparent auditing that ensures traceability and quality

Drilite® Loft is an exclusive range of highly water repellent fabrics used in their insulated clothing and equipment.
The original Drilite® Loft, introduced almost 30 years ago, was years ahead of its time: a highly breathable, lightweight, and very water repellent fabric.
Those three hallmarks continue with the modern Drilite® Loft fabrics.
Offset Construction products have a unique and patent-pending structure that imparts greater wind resistance, greater warmth and fewer cold spots than traditionally-constructed down products
Offset construction is more wind resistant, has fewer cold spots and provides more even warmth than traditional constructions methods
It is also softer and more comfortable to wear than a full box-wall jacket
Polarloft® insulations are sourced by Mountain Equipment from many of the world’s best insulation providers
Considering literally hundreds of options before deciding on the best possible material for the intended application.
There are many different factors which must be considered when choosing the right insulation.
Warmth to weight ratio is one, but there is also handle, stiffness, durability, slickness, loft, recycled content and other environmental considerations, water resistance, and whether there are any restrictions on construction.
Mountain Equipment have cut the middleman out and incorporated only the best possible options into Polarloft® insulations.
Octayarn as used as hand pockets lining is a multidentate (having many teeth, like a cog) fibre which boasts unrivalled surface area
The multidentate fibre shape increases bulk, and subsequently its warmth
The fibre is also extremely lightweight, offering the thickness of an 80 denier fibre but with only half the fibre weight
Octayarn fibres are hollow, increasing their air trapping and resultant warmth, and further reducing their weight
