The Trangia Principle
The heart of the storm-proof stove system is the two-part windshield.
The ventilation holes in the lower windshield are turned to face the wind to increase the oxygen supply to the burner.
If the wind becomes too strong, the stove is turned to maintain the required flame.
The Trangia spirit burner runs on methylated spirits which is low cost, safe and readily available.
The combined frypan/lid can be put on top of the pan to speed up heating and save fuel.
The stove stands stable, with the pan on the supports recessed into the upper windshield.
The supports are turned upwards when the frypan is used.
The Trangia stove can also be used with a gas, multifuel or gel burner, which all can be found in The Trangia range of accessories.
Info :
Ultralight Aluminium is a lightweight material that conducts heat well and is 50% stronger than ordinary aluminium, less material is required = a lighter stove
Trangia Ultralight stove systems spread heat quickly and evenly.
This means that food does not, for example, burn and stick to the centre of the frying pan.
In addition, the hard surface means that the systems are very resistant to scratching and wear.
The original heat source for a Trangia stove, the complete spirit burner is also available as a spare.
- It is silent, simple with no moving parts, durable and easy to use.
- It is easy to light in hot, cold or windy conditions and is lightweight and easy to store between camps.
NEVER REFILL the burner with fuel before it is completely extinguished and has cooled down
FILL THE BURNER to a maximum of 2/3.capacity
USE TRANGIA’S fuel bottle that has a safety closure and easy-pour feature.
DON’T PLACE an empty pot or pan on the stove as it can melt if it has no food or liquid in it.
The spirit burner is intended for alcohol based fuels only (such as methylated spirit).
Alternative safe fuels are other alcohols based on Methanol or Ethanol e.g., Surgical Spirits or Wood Alcohol.
At least 70% alcohol will work. Ethanol will give the best effect and you get most energy from it. You can find as pure as 96%.
The disadvantage is that it gives more soot
Methanol gives you less soot but is very toxic in fumes.
Oil based fuels are not suitable.
Never use gasoline or other petroleum based fuels as this may result in serious injury.
Simmering ring which when open and placed over the Trangia meths burner will give a simmering flame, and when closed can be used to extinguish the burner.
Screw cap, can be used for extinguishing the burner , but first remove the rubber washer from inside the cap as this may melt when extinguishing the burner.
(Note, do not screw the burner cap on tightly to the burner whilst the burner is still warm, as when it cools down the cap will become very difficult to remove )
